Oh sheesh. I just flipped through the channels, and Michael Jackson was all over all of them. Including the two national Danish channels who were broadcasting the exact same thing. Why? I don't know. I get that he was important, but enough already! Show some imagination, for crying out loud! I mean, VH1 has an hour of Michael Jackson music videos - that's at least different than the endless coverage of helicopters hovering over the Staples Center. Ahhh, Discovery Channel. Miami Ink. Thou shalt be my saviour. |

Further on last night's window conundrum, I have this to say: Being woken up at 4:30 am by the sound of people cleaning your window? Totally not high on my list of things I want to do again. I mean, they were quiet and efficient and didn't talk, but still. I live on the 2nd floor, dude, there's not supposed to be people outside my window! Took me a while to realise what was going on, and then even longer to go back to sleep. I'm all blurry-headed today as a result. So glad I decided to close the windows, though, because otherwise I would have had a major freak-out instead of just a moment of utter bewilderment. But on the upside, I have clean windows! Prior to this I've cleaned the lower windows myself, when I couldn't stand the sight of the dirt anymore, but I gave up on the upper windows after the first attempt involved standing on the windowsill, contorting my upper body out of the window. Not exactly safe working procedures, so I decided to just let them be. My life >>>>>>>>>>>>>> clean windows. |

Me and my nice little beerbuzz are going to go to bed now, before the first Torchwood reaction posts go up. But first, I need to figure out what to do about tomorrow morning... we're having our windows cleaned (for the first time in forever, and certainly the first time since I moved in, which was more than three years ago). Because it's a huge house, and so they have to do it by lift. I live on a very busy street, so they're starting at 3 am to avoid blocking the traffic. Which means that at some point, probably before my alarm goes off, some window cleaner will be cleaning my window. I do have curtains, so it's not that I worry about Peeping Toms, but I can't figure out if I want to sleep with my windows closed or not. I generally hate sleeping with closed windows - the air gets far too stuffy. But I don't particularly relish the idea of people in a lift passing by my open windows. It's a conundrum. I suspect I shall just have to close the windows and then turn the fan up high. *sigh* (No, there's no real point to this post. I'm just procrastinating before going to bed.) |

I am totally rewarding myself for all my hard work today by getting sloshed on a chocolate stout (mostly because I discovered it was already past its expiry date when I cleaned out the fridge, but that's irrelevant *cough*). *hickup* Man. I am such a lightweight these days. 'tis nice, though, getting a little buzz. Enjoy Torchwood, people! And PLEASE, don't post reactions or spoilers outside cuts? I've managed to stay completely spoilerfree, I'd like it to continue that way until I get to see it for myself! |

Don't know why, but for some reason I decided that today was the day for cleaning out my kitchen cabinets. And while the weather may not have been as warm as yesterday, it was still hot enough for me to work up quite a sweat. Yuck. On the upside, I now have clean and organised cabinets. And a clean fridge as well, because once I got going I might as well make the best use of my momentum. On that note, I think my fridge may be about to give up the fight. The cooling aggregate (or whatever the machine part is called) smells as if it's working overtime. Which, you know, it probably is in this heat, but it never used to stink up the kitchen to do it. The only good thing about the fridge possibly expiring is that I won't have to pay for a new one since that's my landlord's duty, and they're very good about fixing things like that, so it shouldn't be a problem. Just very impractical, and to be honest I'd rather not have to deal with it... |

So. Today I actually spent time watching things that are not David Cook! *gasp* (Mostly because no new videos have gone up on youtube since yesterday, but that's neither here nor there.) So, let me squee about a few of them... Once - you know, that small independent movie that won the Oscar for Best Original Song, the one that everybody has been telling me I'd love? Yeah, they were right, and I'm kicking myself for not having listened sooner. Seriously. There's not much plot, and not a whole lot of anything, except music and how you can connect through it. And it's just a beautiful little gem of a movie that anybody who like music at all should watch. Glee (pilot) - I downloaded this when I had to set up a US iTunes account to get David Cook's charity single (sheesh, it all comes back to him somehow), because it was offered for free (the pilot, that is, not the charity single), and the squee on the internet was high, so I thought I'd check it out. Which I finally got around to doing, and it is absolutely lovely. It's very reminiscent of Popular, which is not surprising, considering it's the same creator, but that's a good thing in my book. At the end of the pilot I found myself really invested in the characters, and wanting to know how the glee club would work out. Not a bad achievement for a 44 min show. (Though I have to say I was slightly puzzled by the concept of glee clubs. What exactly do they compete in? Show choir? Synchronized acting-dancing? And can they be lipsynching while performing? Because they pretty obviously were...) So. Torchwood starts tomorrow, yeah? I really should be more excited about that than I am, but I think my squee is being used up by one Mr. Cook. Oh well, I'm sure it will come back in no time once I get my hands on the actual episodes... |
